My fact for this Friday... Babies are messy!

I walk into my kitchen and find this:



"Oh, hi Mama! Would you like some of this oatmeal I found?"



"No? It's pretty tasty!"





In the spirit of being factual, I must admit that I was the one who spilled the oatmeal. This little guy was just trying to help me clean it up, I'm sure. ;)

Light!

I just love the way shooting into the light plays with my lens. I found these two boys playing the other day while the sun set and I couldn't resist catching this sunburst. If you would like some photos like this, schedule a shoot in the early evening, when the sun is low in the sky.

Sneak Peek!

I got to photography the most beautiful new baby yesterday. This is a special surprise package for someone, so I'm not going to give too much away, but look at how much this little one is loved.

Baby On The Swings

I got to catch this beautiful baby and his Daddy on the swings the other day. I love that babies show pure, uninhibited joy.









Look at his eyes. He is telling you how proud he is that he can swing just like his dad.

Baby Wants the Camera

Our sweet little guy is just about 7 months. He is a bucket full of love!

Here he waiting for Daddy to come home (we don't do this every night, he was just pretty cranky inside and there was a very interesting cat outside the window.)

This kid wishes he had the finger dexterity to hold the camera and press the shutter button!

The Ranch

We got to visit my family on the ranch just south of Sebring this weekend. This is where I (Ellie) grew up. I love it there! 1800 acres of amazing! It is my calm place. I feel God there. =)

There was big excitement there in the past month or so with the arrival of Jim, a new Arabian foal. My grandmother was so proud of her new baby. He has the LONGEST legs. Here are some pictures of him, with his proud human grandmother and horsey mom watching closely from her stall.

I have to post one of Drew and my cute baby, who was enthralled with the equine baby. A storm was coming in from the south. You can see the weather coming toward you in all directions on the ranch.

We Have Returned

After a week of fun spent with Drew's family in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, we have returned to our studio/living room. I must say that vacations are more stressful with a little one in tow, but I think a great time was had by all. And, said little one did not even stir at the fireworks that were shot two houses down from ours. I guess all the Florida thunderstorms have trained him!

This is a shot from the Atlanta airport, when he should have been taking a nap but figured out that he could watch people out the mesh of his stroller instead. Maybe he'll want to be a photojournalist, too...

Beach Day

I got to take a much needed break from editing today and visit the beach with my mom and my son. Drew and I took the baby to the beach once before, but that turned out to be a windy disaster of a day. Today, on the other hand, was gorgeous. The kid loved sitting with his "Mimi" and getting his feet wet! At least for 15 minutes or so...

Baby J

We got to spend some time with an old friend recently at my mama's house. She has the most beautiful baby girl! So close in age to our little one, too. One day soon I'm sure they will be running around together catching frogs (or playing teaparty?) =)

What has been happening?

I started this blog to keep you more updated on what is going on with Kurz Studio, and now I seem to be ignoring it. Sorry. I'll try to do better.

Here is an update on what has been going on this year...

We scheduled our last wedding (pre-baby) to be in the end of December. Thank the Lord that we did, because about a week later I was put on bedrest. Our beautiful baby boy was born in February. He is our first. He is chunky. He is giggly. He is wiggly. He is wonderful. We LOVE being parents. Now we have to find a babysitter to come take your pictures. =)


Our next wedding will be in early June. Stay tuned. It is on the beach and should be gorgeous!

We sat with Diana trying to keep our baby quiet in the back of church this Sunday while her husband Mike sang his heart out. After the service we went outside and captured these moments with the cute family. Isn't this little guy adorable with his big stick?!

This weekend we had the privilege of shooting the sweetest 4 month old and his zany parents. They all came out to the ranch for this fun session. We love the plaid shorts and the sweet feet. Thanks, Lacey and Mark, for sharing an afternoon with us!
